Opening Day Sunday 14th April 2024.
The green is open and Garry Tait, husband of Club President Liz Tait, rolled the first bowl to start the new season. Unfortunately the weather has been so wet lately we were unable to have a full sweep and get back on the grass. Hopefully soon!!
Many thanks to the volunteers who have worked so hard over the off season to make sure the pavilion, the surrounding area and most importantly, the green are all looking great and ready for us to get back to bowling……
The Short Mat season is now over and the pavilion is set up to welcome members and visiting bowlers. We look forward to seeing you all.

The new pavilion being used in a pairs competition last season. Australian bowling shirts allowed!
The new pavilion is completed. This is a wonderful addition to the sport facilities in Moffat. If you would like to give bowling a try please contact any members of the club or through the contact page on this website. Green bowls has an image of grey hair and grey flannels which could be nothing further from the truth. It really is a game for ALL ages which can be played immediately and then take time to develop skills. The club would be delighted to take anyone up to the green as a group or on an individual basis to give it a try at anytime time. No one need feel intimidated! It is a great game – and more importantly sociable!

Take up bowls
..and from the BBC website 17th July 2020 on the topic of Lockdown easing !
With people now looking for alternative sports that allow them to maintain social distance and play outside, the non-contact activities of bowls and golf are firmly back on the agenda. Before lockdown, an increasing number of young people had been taking up lawn bowls – once the domain of elderly men and women dressed in white.
Now Bowls England says the coming weeks and months are “an opportunity” for those “who currently don’t play, to give bowls a try”. It is a game for ALL ages.
….and bowling can get quite exciting?
